Q: My Datameter displays 'Reload System'?

A: This can sometimes happen when the Datameter has been interrupted during a logging session or the battery runs down during an experiment. Recharge the batteries if required and by pressing the reset buttons and holding down the Blue button, the Datameter should reset. (The Video shows you how.)

If this fails, you may need to reload the Datameter system. This is achieved by following the steps detailled below for updating the Datameter. If you are still experiencing problems, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Q: My Datameter displays '???' when I plug a new sensor in?

A: Datameter may need a sensor update. Plug Datameter into your datalogging software.  If the software also cannot recognise the sensor, you need to update your software to the latest version.  See here for updates.  Then, connect the Datameter, select 'File', 'Manager' and 'Reload system software'.  For newer versions of software, this is automatic and you may not need to manually reload the system.  Once done, the Datameter should now recognise the sensor.

Q: My batteries don't seem to be holding a charge?

A: Before contacting DCP, check that the batteries are receiving a full 16 hour charge. Some institutions have isolated labs overnight where the electricity is turned off. Hence, the Datameter never receives a full charge. If you think you might still have a problem please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Q: Is Datameter compatible with Windows Vista or Windows 7?

A: Yes. Provided you are running LogIT Lab version 4.07, Datalogging Insight version 4.21 upwards or SensorLab (see software updates)
